ClipMap — Quick Start Guide (beta)
Open a Pro Tools session (.ptx) and explore it without launching Pro Tools.
Getting Started
- Launch ClipMap.
- Drag and drop a
.ptx file onto the window — or choose File → Open Pro Tools session (PTX). On macOS you can also right-click a .ptx file and choose Open With → ClipMap.
- Click a clip to select it. Double-click for details.
- Press Space to play / pause.
Keyboard Shortcuts

| S | Spot selected clip to Pro Tools |
| Shift+S | Spot to timecode (spot using timecode position) |
| E | Zoom to selection |
| U | Universe mode (show entire session) |
| N | Show / hide clip names |
| Enter | Jump to start of session |
| Tab | Select next clip on same track |
| Shift+Tab | Select previous clip on same track |
| Cmd/Ctrl+9 | Toggle Video Player |
| Cmd/Ctrl + scroll | Zoom the timeline horizontally |
| Click + drag on canvas | Pan the timeline |
| Mouse wheel | Scroll the track list vertically |
| Click on clip | Select (shows timecodes in the header) |
| Shift+click on clip | Region select — select a portion within a clip |
| Double-click on clip | Open the Clip Detail window |
Keyboard shortcuts do not work when a text field has focus (e.g. the search box). Click on the timeline first if a shortcut is not responding.
Header Buttons
- HIDE NAMES — Hide clip names to reveal waveforms
- MEMORY LOCATION — Show memory locations on tracks and open the search popup
- UNIVERSE — Universe mode (auto-fit the entire session)
- VOL.AUTOMATION — Show volume automation overlay
- H-ZOOM / V-ZOOM — Horizontal / vertical zoom controls
- ▾ next to TIMELINE — Switch between Timecode / Min:Sec / Samples
- MTC — Enable MIDI Time Code output
- Speaker icon + slider → master volume
Track List
- Each track displays a colour strip matching the Pro Tools session track colours
- S / M — Solo / Mute per track
- Click a track → select for spotting to Pro Tools
Menus
File
- Open Pro Tools session (PTX)
- Open Recent — recently opened sessions
- Save / Open Workspace… — multiple tabs in one package
- Close Tab — close the active tab
View
- Show Memory Locations on Tracks
- Search Memory Locations…
Session
- Regenerate Waveforms — rebuild waveform caches
- Spot to Pro Tools — requires Pro Tools running
ClipMap (macOS) / Settings
- Preferences… (Cmd+,) — application settings
- License… — licence information
Reporting Bugs
Please include the following when reporting a bug:
- OS + version (Windows / macOS Intel / Apple Silicon)
- ClipMap version (found in Preferences)
- Pro Tools version that created the
.ptx file
- If possible: the
.ptx file itself + steps to reproduce the issue
