1. Overview

ClipMap ("we", "us", "our") is a desktop application for viewing Pro Tools session files (.ptx). This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user. ClipMap is designed with privacy as a default — the desktop application works entirely offline and does not require an account to use the free tier.

2. Data we collect

2.1 Website (clipmapapp.com)

This website does not use cookies, tracking pixels, or client-side analytics scripts. Web server access logs (IP addresses, timestamps, pages visited) may be retained for up to 30 days for security and performance monitoring. These logs are not shared with third parties.

2.2 Purchases

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers or payment instrument details. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data. We retain your email address and license key information for license management and support purposes.

2.3 Desktop application — telemetry

The ClipMap desktop application may collect anonymous usage telemetry to help us improve the product. Telemetry collection requires explicit opt-in consent. We do not collect:

  • The names or content of Pro Tools sessions you open
  • File paths on your computer
  • Personally identifiable information (name, email, IP address)

Telemetry install IDs are random UUIDs — they are not derived from your hardware or account. You can withdraw consent and request deletion of your telemetry data at any time.

3. How we use data

  • License key delivery and validation
  • Customer support and purchase confirmation emails
  • Product improvement (anonymous telemetry only, with consent)
  • Security monitoring and abuse prevention

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS SES) — transactional email delivery

Both services are contractually bound to use your data only to provide their services to us.

5. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Withdraw consent for telemetry data collection
  • Request a copy of your data in machine-readable format

6. Data retention

License and purchase records are retained for seven years for tax and legal compliance. Telemetry data is retained for up to 24 months. You may request deletion of telemetry data at any time; deletion is processed within 30 days.
